Fresh. Local. Together.
About the First Employee
Hey! Dex here.
Co-Op started with a text message to my brother one night.
He's one of the smartest people I know. His reaction told me something: most people have never had access to the kind of direct, community-driven buying that co-ops make possible. And the ones who have, love it.
So I started building.
My vision was simple: what if buying from a local farmer, a fisherman at the dock, or a regional maker felt less like a transaction and more like being part of something? What if the price got better the more neighbors joined? What if you actually knew the person who grew your food?
That's Co-Op. A marketplace where buyers pool their purchasing power, sellers move product on their own terms, and the community between them is the whole point.
I come from a theatre background, which means I'm comfortable performing under pressure, collaborating with people who have strong opinions, and building something from nothing with limited resources. It also means I know a good story when I see one. And the story of local food, local makers, and the communities that support them is one worth telling.
I'm currently running Co-Op alongside a full-time job handling marketing, sales, and support myself, one conversation at a time. At home I have a wonderful partner, a curious 9-year-old, a sweet dog, and a mischievous cat keeping things lively and reminding me why community matters.
Co-Op is built for the farmer who deserves a direct relationship with the people eating their food. For the maker who puts their whole self into what they produce. And for the neighbor who wants their buying habits to actually mean something.
We're just getting started and we'd love for you to be part of it from the beginning!
